We had aimed to leave by 9:30 or so Friday morning but when we got up that morning our pool was turning green again so I had to run to the pool store and get that under control before we could leave. Once we got started it was probably close to 11:30 which wasn't too bad considering the delays we faced that morning.
After settling in everyone just relaxed and enjoyed the cool, quiet mountain scenery. The Montgomery and Standage families went up with us so the kids went downstairs to play or outside to explore. It was kind of nice just letting them go and do their thing while the adults got to sit and do nothing! Saturday we all took the kids to Willow Springs Lake to go fishing. That was quite an adventure. Poor Craig ended up getting most of the poles ready for the kids. After fishing all day Jacob was the only one who caught anything and that poor fish was only about 3" long and he had hooked him through the eye. Some of the kids started getting bored fishing so Chris, Marie and I took them on a walk. Chris can't go anywhere without turning over rocks to look for creatures and this walk was no exception. He had found a lizard with a blue belly but couldn't catch it but little Josh had no trouble. After catching it all of the kids wanted a turn to hold it and after about the 4th kid the lizard got tired of that and jumped out of their hand. We tried to look for it and couldn't find it so we started walking again. About walking about 25 feet Chris Montgomery shouted that the lizard was in his shirt. Sure enough there it was crawling out of his sleeve. He thought that was pretty cool!
We had such a great time, as usual, at the cabin. It is always nice to get out of the Valley and spend some time relaxing with friends. Thanks Tom & Lynette!!
